Oxenfurt uses the Velen region label here for consistency with base-game checklists.

All Hearts of Stone Main Quests
The main story is divided into 8 quests, out of which 3 are subquests for Open Sesame!
The quests tell the story of three of Olgierd’s wishes that Geralt must complete, before deciding on an ending and what to do with Gaunter O’Dimm.
In the finale (Whatsoever a Man Soweth…), you can steer toward the good ending or the bad ending depending on whether you meet Professor Shakeslock in Oxenfurt before the last ritual, and what you choose at the temple.

Hearts of Stone FAQ
How is the Hearts of Stone main quest line structured?
There are eight main quests. Three of them are the Open Sesame! setup line (Breaking and Entering, The Safecracker, Witcher Seasonings) before the heist. The story centers on Olgierd’s three wishes, then the finale against Gaunter O’Dimm in Whatsoever a Man Soweth…
What matters for the good ending versus bad ending?
For the good ending, visit Professor Shakeslock in Oxenfurt with Shani before the final meeting. At the temple you still choose how the confrontation plays out. The bad ending path trades Olgierd’s soul for rewards such as coin or utility items like the Bottomless Carafe.
What should I know about side quests and the Runewright?
Most side content is open whenever you are in the DLC area, but two quests only appear during specific main quests—they are flagged as Missable! in the checklist. The Enchanting pair is the Runewright chain: meet him at Upper Mill, bring gemstones, then purchase tier upgrades.
How many horse races are in Hearts of Stone?
Only one DLC race, started near the Upper Mill signpost against the Ofieri merchant’s horse.
Are any treasure hunts missable?
Yes. Most hunts behave like the base game, but one is missable and tied to Open Sesame! Finish that main arc before leaving the auction storyline if you want a clean sweep.
Why is Oxenfurt labeled Velen on this page?
The DLC expands the wider Novigrad map, so most pins say Novigrad even outside the city walls. Oxenfurt keeps the Velen region tag so numbering matches the rest of our Witcher 3 checklists.
What level should I be?
Quest levels on this checklist run from about 32 to 38. Pick up the notice at the Seven Cats Inn once the expansion is installed.
