This checklist covers all signposts organized by region, from the starting area in White Orchard through late-game. Each signpost includes region location and detailed descriptions of nearby points of interest, merchants, quests, and landmarks.
What Are Signposts?
A signpost in The Witcher 3 is a fast travel point that allows Geralt to quickly travel between locations on the world map. Signposts appear as wooden markers with symbols along roads and in settlements. Once activated by approaching it, the signpost becomes available for fast travel from any other activated signpost, significantly reducing travel time across the large game world.
Signposts work by allowing fast travel between activated locations. Once you approach a signpost, it becomes activated and appears on your map. You can then fast travel to any activated signpost from another activated signpost using the world map. This saves significant time when traveling across large distances between regions like Velen, Novigrad, and Skellige.
Are Any Signposts Missable?
Signposts are generally not missable as they remain available throughout the game. However, some areas may only become accessible during or after specific main quests. It is recommended to activate signposts as you encounter them to maintain efficient fast travel options.
While activating signposts is not strictly required for story completion, activating all 170 signposts is important for 100% completion in The Witcher 3. Signposts enable efficient travel and some achievements may require visiting all areas.
