Gestures - Key Information:
Gestures are emotions that can be found in the world. You can then use them anytime to make P perform a gesture, often showing emotion like happiness, sadness, or to change his stance to sitting or crouching.
All gestures are primarily cosmetic, but some have additional effects. Several NPCs in Hotel Krat can react to performing a special Gesture. Some Gestures are related to special objectives: praying near a certain shrine gives Humanity, or Check Ground is being used to actually search the ground for the reward for solving Jeweled Cryptic Vessel.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many gestures are there?
Seventeen gestures from Check Ground and Sit (available early) through late-game entries such as Happy and the missable Entreat at Sophia.
Do gestures do anything besides emotes?
Most are cosmetic, but Check Ground solves the Jeweled Cryptic Vessel, Pray can grant Humanity at a shrine, and several Hotel Krat NPCs react to specific gestures.
Which gestures are missable?
Sad requires lying to Julian the Gentleman. Entreat requires giving Sophia peace. Missing those quest outcomes blocks the gesture on that save.
Why do I need Clap, Sad, Happy, and Anger?
The Broken Puppet side quest at Hotel Krat asks you to perform four different gestures. Sad is the usual missable piece if you tell Julian the truth.
