Cryptic Vessels - Key Information:
Cryptic Vessels in Lies of P are complicated puzzle items in Lies of P that offer significant rewards.
Most Cryptic Vessels can be found in the world: the exception is the Rusty Cryptic Vessel which is sold by Polendina.
To solve a Cryptic Vessel, you must first decrypt it by bringing it to Venigni. He will then provide you with a special Decryption letter item, which contains the next clue.
The last clue you must solve yourself, or look for the solution in our checklist below. The clues usually point to a specific location, that has a chest or an item you must interact with.
The Rewards for solving Cryptic Vessels are NOT accessible without decrypting and finding the vessels, you must go the full journey with all 6 of them.
Missable Warning
Technically every single Cryptic Vessel is missable. In the Real Boy ending, all residents of Hotel Krat, including Venigni, are slaughtered and replaced with puppets. After this happens, you will no longer be able to decrypt the vessels or reach the solutions.
In the checklist, we mark certain Cryptic Vessels only as Missable, if there is another layer of missability tied to them, such as a specific dialogue decision.

Cryptic Vessel Location: From St. Frangelico Cathedral Chapel Stargazer, continue into the cathedral until you reach the bottom of the parkour part, that is originally covered with Decay water. There are stairs leading down to a chest with the vessel. If you need to get rid of the Decay, continue up and knock a brazier into the water.  Puzzle Solution: Step 1: From Krat City Hall Stargazer, go to the bridge where you've fought the Mad Donkey Boss. Find a puppet hanging from the bridge with the sign "Purge Puppets." Throw any throwable at the puppet to get the "Letter with the Refugee's Address".  Step 2: Go to the Inside the House on Elysion Boulevard Stargazer. Go outside, cross the wooden beam to the next balcony and you'll immediately see apartment 221b. Use the letter to open it and inside is a safe with the reward. Cryptic Vessel Location: From Romeo's Arena (Estella Opera House Stage Stargazer), go back and drop into the large hole. Enter the dark tunnel, then follow the left path up three staircases. You will reach a hallway with the spider puppet - go right and to the end of the hallway. There is a dark room with two ladders. Use the ladder going up to reach a chest with the vessel.  Puzzle Solution: From the Cerasani Alley Stargazer (Chapter I) or Krat Central Station Street (Chapter IX), go back through the bridge and down the stairs on your right. Then go left, through an archway, turn right to another archway. Follow the path to reach an area with a view. Position yourself in the very corner (with the flying banner) and use the Gesture "Check Ground".  Rewards: The Atoned's Hunting Apparel, 1x Legion Caliber |

Cryptic Vessel Location: Find Rookie Explorer Hugo NPC near the Barren Swamp Bridge Stargazer. Ask him "about the discovered treasure" to get the vessel. Puzzle Solution: From the Path of the Pilgrim Stargazer, use the lift shortcut, then head straight and slightly right and uphill, inside a house where slum residents lure you in and the floor breaks under you. Circle around the house, activating another shortcut, to safely get to the bait chest. You can also evade the trap completely - after using the Robbers' Shack Key and opening the doors, jump diagonally forward and right to avoid the breaking floor. Cryptic Vessel Location: Missable! Alidoro can be found after beating the Black Rabbit Brotherhood #2 Boss. You must kill him before going to the next chapter to get the cryptic vessel. Puzzle Solution: Simply let Venigni decrypt the vessel and talk to Eugenie. See "Alidoro & Eugenie Side Quest" for more information and potential outcomes. Eugenie gives the reward. Cryptic Vessel Location: Buy from Polendina for 1000 Ergo after bringing him the Krat Supply Box, Sturdy Krat Supply Box and the Special Krat Supply Box. Puzzle Solution: Decrypting the vessel will automatically unlock the Hermit's Cave subarea. Go to Barren Swamp Bridge Stargazer and walk into the previously locked arena. Continue on the main path until you pass the Hermit's Cave Stargazer past the wooden scaffoldings. Continue descending until you reach a lair with a large Carcass enemy. Cryptic Vessel Location: Missable! From Arche Abbey Broken Rift Stargazer, go under the archway and continue straight through the open area. Turn right to descend some stairs, then continue straight again. Turn right to find a ladder going up.  Use it, then turn right and then straight. After you pass the third fire brazier, go to the walkway on the left to spot a chest with the vessel.  Puzzle Solution: From the Abandoned Apartment Stargazer, go up the stairs and outside. Make your way almost to the end of the ruined street, then choose the path that goes left before small destroyed stairs.  On a small courtyard, use the second stairs (on the right side) to reach a balcony with a special Wandering Merchant.  You must have Frozen Feast Weapon equipped or he won't cooperate. How many Cryptic Vessels are there?
There are six vessels: Crafted, Jeweled, Old, Alidoro's, Rusty, and Mechanical. Each row explains where to find the item and how to complete Venigni's decryption puzzle for its reward.
Which Cryptic Vessels are missable?
Alidoro's Cryptic Vessel and the Mechanical Cryptic Vessel are missable if you skip boss exchanges or the Frozen Feast weapon requirement. The checklist calls these out in the location text.
What does the Rusty Cryptic Vessel do?
You buy it from Polendina after delivering all three Krat Supply Boxes. Decrypting it unlocks Hermit's Cave, which ties into several outfits, weapons, and a Stargazer-adjacent route in Barren Swamp.
How do I solve the Jeweled Cryptic Vessel?
Use the Check Ground gesture at the hinted corner in Krat Central Station (see the solution image on the row). The reward includes The Atoned's Hunting Apparel and a Legion Caliber.
