100% Completion Walkthrough
Finding the Portal to Verso's Drafts
Your first task is finding the portal to Verso's Drafts.
Locate a portal to the Verso's Drafts west of Lumiere. You need Esquie's Underwater ability, received in Camp after reaching Relationship level 6 and defeating Francois again.
Prerequisite: Make sure you have Esquie's Underwater ability before attempting to access Verso's Drafts.
Open Playground Flag
Just after entering, continue to the main area to reach the Open Playground Expedition Flag.
First enemies you see on the cliff are Barbasucette and Machinapieds enemies - they drop Double Third Pictos and Longer Break Pictos.
Gestral Baths Area
Ignore the cliff leading down for now and instead explore the Gestral Baths area to the right, which looks almost similar to the Gestral Beaches on The Continent. Nearby Gestrals give some interesting Esquie lore.
Gestral Baths Puzzles
Across the baths, you'll probably notice a few suspicious, orange statues of Esquie. Cross the Gestral Baths to reach a Gestral Baths Expedition Flag.
Esquie Statue Puzzle
Nearby, look for a Half-baked Lifeguard NPC, which will inform you that plenty of orange Esquie statues need fixing and your job is to find them. However, you only need to turn blue 3 of the total 6 statues. When done correctly, a small pressure wave effect happens across the screen.
They are each located in Gestral Baths area and finding them should be no problem, considering they are large and glowing with orange color.
Esquie Statue Puzzle Rewards
- Double Bun Haircut for Monoco
- Piece of Cake (necessary to later open the Gingerbread door)
Collectibles in Gestral Baths
While finding the Esquie statues, you'll encounter a Slowing Attack Pictos, just next to the second pair of Esquie's statues, playing in the water. Above the Flag, there is a Colour of Lumina and you can find a Grandiose Chroma Catalyst in a dark hut close to the Flag.
How to solve the Hopscotch puzzle (Marelle puzzle, Number puzzle)
Just next to the Flag, there is also a Marelle puzzle. Nearby Gestral NPC will alert you to its presence. Just as you probably did during your childhood, first jump onto the tile with number 1, then jump in order through all tiles. The puzzle rewards a Chic Haircut for Verso - which is essentially a black top hat.
Another Marelle puzzle can be found at the very beginning of Verso's Rafters, which rewards the same haircut and hat for Maelle.
Diving Board Jumping Rings Challenge
The best way to leave the Gestral Baths is to find a diving board with a Gestral blocking the way. Simply attack him, pick-up the Esquiaro weapon and locate 3 flying rings below the diving board. Jumping in each (after talking to a nearby Gestral NPC) yields rewards:
- Blue Ring - just walk off the platform with no sprinting, yields Maelle's Double Bun Haircut
- Red Ring - jump with middle power and strongly to the left, adjust mid-air, yields Maelle's French Bob Haircut
- Yellow Ring - jump with sprinting as far as you can, going very slightly to the left, yields Monoco's French Bob Haircut
Watch how to make the red ring jump from the springboard in our YouTube video:
Gingerbread Door Area
Go to the right side of the lake and ascend some stairs. You'll notice the music shifts to a much creepier tone, as you approach the Gingerbread door that asks for birthday cake, for which you currently only have one piece out of three. For a complete step-by-step guide on opening this door, see our How to Open the Gingerbread Door guide.
Enemies and Collectibles Near the Door
At first, take note of a pair of Licorne enemies - defeating them yields a Damage Share Pictos and two Grandiose Chroma Catalysts.
In the main area, defeat a singular Franctale enemy to get an SOS Healing Tint Pictos. You can ignore the single Machinapieds in the woods, left of the door.
Broken Marelle Puzzle in the Woods
You've probably noticed a broken Marelle puzzle scattered along the woods. Completing it rewards a Double Bun Haircut for Sciel.
Right Path Exploration
Take note of a twisted tree to the right and the two paths nearby. First, go to the right path, defeat the enemies, climb the ledge and pick up the Gradient Parry Pictos. Continue along the right path until you reach a Parkour challenge, yielding the Empowered Healer Pictos.
Grapple Point and Hidden Areas
Turn back, go across the wooden planks and find a small ramp leading upwards. At the end of the path, you'll discover you are back at the Gestral Baths Flag.
Instead, use the statue's fingerpoint to grapple across to find yourself above the Gingerbread door. Near a large piano, find the Sucreso weapon for Verso.
Go around the house and use the handholds in shape of Esquie's head to find over 20000 Chroma. Cross the house to find another grapple point and use the rope to find a gap you can crawl through, leading to a new Paint Cage, shielding a Chroma Elixir Shard.
Balloons, Seesaws and Gestral Miniboss
Continue north to exit the forest and reach another, small bath area with Gestrals and seesaws.
Seesaw Quest
Locate the first Half-baked Gestrals and jump with him on the seesaw. Completing this quest rewards an Empowering Jumps Pictos.
Balloon Miniboss Fight
Some of the nearby balloons are suspicious - shoot them to fight another nearby Half-baked Gestral miniboss. This unique bossfight requires shooting his balloons. After you prevail, you'll get the Trigger-Happy Pictos and two Grandiose Chroma Catalysts. Find a Revive Tint Shard just near the Gestral.
Continue down the hill to reach the Reverie Path Expedition Flag.
Reverie Path
Toy Boat Side Quest
Near the Flag, find a waterfall with Toy Boat inside. You can return the lost boat to 3 little Gestrals at the very beginning of the area, close to the Open Playground.
Chromatic Barbasucette Boss
Coming out of the waterfall cave, you will meet Chromatic Barbasucette boss. Defeating him gives you the Sucetton weapon for Sciel, 5 Colours of Lumina and 2 Grandiose Chroma Catalysts. For combat strategies against chromatic enemies, see our DLC Low Level Combat Strategy Guide.
Merchant Najabla
Return to the Flag to find a merchant Najabla. He has plenty of items in stock - the most interesting are the Bonbim weapon or Consuming Attack and AP Discount Pictos. He also sells 5 Esquie Haircuts and 5 Grandiose Chroma Catalysts. You can find about 10000 Chroma lying on a cliff behind the merchant.
Parkour Challenge
Cross the colourful xylophone and behind an enemy group, find golden crates you can climb to reach a Parkour challenge. At the very left end of it, you can find a Gradient Overcharge Pictos.
Chromatic Licorne Boss
Continuing on the right and climbing the handholds leads you to a Chromatic Licorne boss fight. Using patience and counters, defeat him for a Licorum Weapon, 5 Colours of Lumina and 2 Grandiose Chroma Catalysts. For detailed combat strategies, check our combat strategy guide.
Additional Collectibles
Return down, back to the main area, to find 3 Licornes guarding a Colour of Lumina. They themselves drop 2 Grandiose Chroma Catalysts. A nearby Franctale near a cliff drops 3 Polished Chroma Catalysts and guards 10470 Chroma.
Esquim Weapon for Lune
Go up the hill, back towards the second Gestral Baths with seesaws and located 3 handholds on the right side. Climb them to reach a Paint Cage, holding an Esquim weapon for Lune. Now we're almost back at the Open Playground Flag and we'll explore the pink cave near the Paint Cage.
Candy Land
Just as you enter, locate a blue tunnel on your right and pick up the Alternating Critical Pictos.
Drop down to the main path, grapple across the ravine to reach the Candy Land Expedition Flag.
Mime Boss Fight
Just to the left, find a path with handholds. After a few handholds, spot a sidepath with Esquion - a weapon for Sciel. Continue along the handholds to find this area's Mime. His moveset is unchanged but he has an incredible amount of HP, so prepare for a long fight. Using Maelle's Defenceless skills proved to be very helpful with reducing his health bar. The Mime rewards are all for Monoco - Baguette Haircut and Outfit, a Baguettaro weapon and 2 Grandiose Chroma Catalysts. For strategies on defeating challenging bosses like the Mime, see our combat strategy guide.
Energy Tint Shard
Return to the Flag and face the duo Barbasucettes. Behind them, find an Energy Tint Shard.
Hidden Tunnel and Marelle Puzzle
Finally, take the rope down from the Flag and discover another Barbasucette. On the left, you can find 3 Colours of Lumina behind a breakable cage. Also, break a cage on the right and discover a hidden tunnel. You will encounter another Marelle puzzle - jump across the tiles to get a Double Bun Haircut for Lune.
Gestral Carousel
Return to the main room and this time go right, to the tunnel with a slightly green hue. You'll end up near a Gestral Carousel.
Gestral Carousel
Very Very Cool Gestral and Carousel Rides
Before crossing the main gate in, talk to the Very Very Cool Gestral on the left. If you agree with him that waiting in line is boring, he'll reward you with a ticket you can use to skip the line.
You can choose for any character to ride the carousel any number of times. The Gestral will reward an Esquie outfit for each character who goes on a ride. Ride the carousel with all 5 characters to get another Piece of Cake - the last one you need to open the gingerbread door.
Watch the cutscenes for all 5 characters riding the carousel in our YouTube video - some are very funny:
Important for 100%: Make sure to ride the carousel with all 5 characters (Lune, Maelle, Sciel, Verso, and Monoco) to collect all Esquie outfits and the final Piece of Cake needed for the Gingerbread door. Note: Gustave's DLC-specific outfits and haircuts are only available in Act I - see our guide on how to get DLC Gustave outfits and haircuts for details.
Parry Side Quest
You can also speak to a nearby NPC to activate a small parry-focused sidequest for the Feint Pictos.
Chromatic Machinapieds Boss
Locate a path opposite the Very Very Cool Gestral to reach the Chromatic Machinapieds boss fight. Defeat him for 2 Grandiose Chroma Catalysts and 5 Colours of Lumina and a Cannaro weapon for Monoco.
The weapon is only available after the mid-December patch that the developer released - before it was unobtainable due to a glitch.
Chromatic Franctale Boss and Esqium Weapon
Cross the large gate and immediately focus to the right. Descend the rope and face the Chromatic Franctale boss fight. Beating the boss rewards 5 Colours of Lumina and 2 Grandiose Chroma Catalysts. In the arena, you can also find a new weapon - Esqium for Maelle.
Final Collectibles
Return back to the area and find that you are close to the Reverie Path Flag. You can also find 3 Colours of Lumina under a breakable jar nearby - look for it under a tree. Return to the Reverie Path Flag.
Licornapieds Station
Bring the full cake to the Gingerbread door. After it opens, continue inside and reach the Licornapieds Station Expedition Flag.
Defeat the nearby Licornapieds boss fight for a Frenzy Pictos and return back to the Reverie Path Flag.
Root of All Evil
From the Reverie Path Flag follow the main path to the statue of Esquie's head. Use the train and enter the portal of Root of All Evil subarea. Rest at the Main Field Flag and face Osquio.
Osquio Boss Fight
Osquio is the final boss of the Verso's Drafts DLC and presents a significant challenge. Make sure you have your weapons upgraded to at least level 20. Use Maelle's Defenceless skill to help reduce his massive health bar. Elemental Overload or Follow Up cycles from Lune and Verso are highly recommended. Be prepared for a long fight - Osquio has an incredible amount of HP. For detailed strategies on defeating Osquio, especially at lower levels, see our DLC Low Level Combat Strategy Guide.
Defeating Osquio rewards:

Combat Tips for Verso's Drafts
The DLC recommends a high level, but if you want to explore it quickly, you can do with weapon level 20 and Elemental Overload or Follow Up cycles. Provided by Lune and Verso. For detailed strategies on completing the DLC at lower levels, check out our DLC Low Level Combat Strategy Guide.
Important Combat Warning
Learning enemy patterns will be necessary, especially if you are low level. That's because of a new status effect debuff the enemies inflict - it prevents you from dealing more than 1 damage for many turns.
Maelle struggles to remove this debuff more than other characters, but her Defenceless skill is of great help in this region. See our combat strategy guide for tips on countering this debuff and optimizing your builds.
Tips for 100% Completion
Necessary steps
- Complete all side quests: The carousel rides, seesaw quest, and parry side quest all reward important items.
- Don't skip the puzzles: Marelle puzzles and Esquie statue puzzles reward unique haircuts and items needed for 100% completion.

Clea Unleashed and Simon the Divergent Star are the new bosses waiting, each with their own rewards.

How to get special Chic Haircuts and Outfits
Thank You Update adds new Chic Haircuts and Outfits, but most of those are not obtainable in the Verso's Drafts level itself - we list them in the Verso's Drafts checklist.
Chic Haircuts
Only the Chic Haircut for Maelle and Verso are obtainable in Verso's Drafts.
To obtain Chic Haircut for Verso, complete the marelle puzzle near Gestral Baths. To get Maelle's, solve the marelle nearest to the portal.
The last Chic Haircut, for Monoco, is sold on The Continent, near Coastal Cave. The merchant asks for 3000 Chroma.
Chic Outfits
Chic Outfits for Lune, Maelle, Monoco, Sciel and Verso are sold by a merchant on The Continent, near Coastal Cave - the same one who sells the Chic Haircut for Monoco.
Every Chic Outfit costs 10000 Chroma and is obtainable at any point after reaching Act 2.
Only Gustave's Chic Outfit is sold by a different merchant.
How to get new Gustave items
Gustave also got new Outfits and Haircuts in Thank You Update, but they are not required for 100 % Completion, as Gustave is inaccessible in Act 3, when Verso's Drafts is accessible.
New items for Gustave are sold by two merchants on the Continent near Gestral Village or Esquie's Nest.
We list their inventory in this guide.
This concludes all content for the Verso's Drafts DLC.
Congratulations on completing Verso's Drafts DLC! This comprehensive guide should help you achieve 100% completion. If you found this guide helpful, make sure to check out our other Expedition 33 guides and checklists for the complete game experience.
