All Chalices Checklist Overview
The checklist is located below this introductory text.
This checklist contains every Chalice obtainable in Bloodborne. Chalices are special key items used to create Chalice Dungeons at the Ritual Altars in Hunter's Dream. They are not consumed when used and remain permanently available throughout your playthrough.
How to collect all Chalices in Bloodborne
The first starter-level Chalices are obtained from base-game bosses.
Chalices unlocking higher Depth of the same labyrinth are obtained by defeating the final boss in the Chalice Dungeon of previous Depth.
Root Chalices of the same Depth are most-commonly obtained by defeating the second boss in that Chalice Dungeon.
Other Chalices, such as Sinister Chalices, are usually found in Side Tombs, either in chests or sold by special chalice Messenger Shops.
To get every Chalice, you need to finish the main game and thoroughly explore all default Chalice Dungeons and its side tombs. These are: Pthumeru Labyrinth, Central Pthumeru Labyrinth, Lower Pthumeru Labyrinth, Defiled Pthumeru Labyrinth, Great Pthumeru Ihyll, Hintertomb, Lower Hintertomb, Ailing Loran, Lower Ailing Loran, Great Isz.
Creating a Chalice Dungeon also requires Ritual Materials, which are found throughout both the main game and Chalice Dungeons.
Missable Chalices
All Chalices can be obtained at any time and none are permanently missable. However, progressing through the Chalice Dungeon system requires collecting the necessary Ritual Materials to perform each ritual, which significantly encourages exploration of the side tombs.
About Chalice Dungeons in Bloodborne
Chalice Dungeons are optional underground areas accessed from the Ritual Altars in Hunter's Dream. Unlike the main game, they are divided into layers, each ending with a boss.
Defeating the boss unlocks the next layer, while the final boss usually rewards a new Chalice that grants access to a more difficult dungeon.
Most Chalice Dungeons have fixed layouts and enemy placements, making them identical for every player. Root Chalices work differently by using randomized layouts and loot from a predefined pool, allowing for thousands of possible dungeon variations. Progress inside a Chalice Dungeon is permanently saved until the Chalice is removed from its altar. Once removed, that dungeon must be created and explored again from the beginning.
Best Chalice in Bloodborne
There is no single best Chalice in Bloodborne, as each one unlocks a different dungeon and serves as progression toward more challenging content. However, Root Chalices are particularly valuable for players farming Blood Gems, upgrade materials, and rare loot thanks to their randomized layouts and high replayability.
