This walkthrough covers the
The Jaunt side quest. It is part of Blacksmith Radovan's route to the Semine wedding in
Wedding Crashers. This is the second quest on that route, preceded by
The Blacksmith's Son and followed by
The Hermit.
Talk to Radovan
After you've learned blacksmithing and wrapped up the previous tasks, return to Radovan at his forge in
Tachov to start the quest. Ask for the "more interesting" work. See also our Perfect Blacksmithing guide if you need a refresher on the intro route.
Meet Sir Semine
Radovan explains that with the wedding approaching, he must forge a special sword as a wedding gift. He sent a cart with Ventza and Franzi for the cargo and has heard nothing since.
Your next objective is
Semine citadel. Arriving there starts a cutscene unique to this quest. Henry runs into loud, drunk wedding guests from Moravia.
After you refuse to serve the rude Jurko, you get a short fist fight. It ends when one of you goes down. An efficient approach is to attack from below and chain kicks.
Captain Gnarly interrupts the brawl and brings Henry to Sir Jan Semine. Semine is eager to leave the grounds to escape both the wedding prep and his Moravian cousins. Neither he nor Gnarly saw the cart near Semine. They head out to investigate and take Henry with them.
Get Pebbles
If you don't have a horse yet, do not ride out with Semine and Gnarly. Instead go to the Semine stables and meet Pebbles. She can be bought for a relatively low sum. Don't try to steal her: if your Horsemanship is low she panics and throws you off.
You can also talk to Gnarly and Jurko for extra dialogue. You can challenge Jurko to another fight, but if you already won he always refuses.
Wait until 7 AM. You will have unlocked another bed at Semine. Loot the nearby chest for a Blacksmithing sketch for a
Falchion. Then set off with Sir Semine and Gnarly and follow them toward
Troskowitz.
Practice with Sir Semine
Follow Gnarly and Semine north. You can answer their chatter (for example, complain about Jurko) with no reputation impact.
Soon you reach a small fighting pen. Semine challenges you to a friendly duel. Talk to Gnarly first: he offers his cudgel, Gnarly's Club. Always take it; you can sell it later. Learn the weapon, then try to beat Semine in the duel.
Gnarly also gives Gnarly's Shield: heavy and mediocre, but often your first shield. Regroup, wash up if needed, and continue to Troskowitz.
Speak to the Bailiff
Visit Bailiff Thrush in
Troskowitz and ask about the missing cart. No skill checks; he quickly says the cart was heading toward
Apollonia.
Return to Semine and Gnarly with the news, then follow them east toward Apollonia.
Investigate near the cemetery
The group stops by the
Troskowitz Cemetery interesting site. Take the path left of the cemetery and find a sack with charcoal on the road. Return to Semine and Gnarly, then push on to Apollonia.
Find the cart
After a while Semine and Gnarly think they've lost the trail. Backtrack slightly: a large cart track veers into the woods.
Follow the tracks to the cart hidden in the bushes. Semine decides bandits took the cargo and fled into the rocks. They keep tracking. Follow on foot.
Defeat the bandits: first camp
Stay with Sir Jan Semine and Captain Gnarly until you hear voices near the rocks. You can point out the noise to Gnarly. He sends you up a small ledge to scout the camp from afar.
Henry reports three bandits and no goods. With a bow, you can suggest attacking from above; otherwise you can rush them.
They wear weak gear; only one has a shield. Loot the bodies; the leader carries a key to two chests. The first chest (near the tents) holds a few Groschen and a
Marigold Decoction.
The second chest is better: about 47.4 Groschen, trinkets to sell, a worn helmet, and smithing materials. Loot everything, talk to Gnarly, and a cutscene plays.
Defeat the bandits: second camp
The scene moves to a larger camp led by Gules, with tougher fighters holding Ventza prisoner. Semine and Henry try to talk, but Gnarly shoots early with his crossbow and the fight begins.
Clear the weaker bandits; Gules fights alone at the end and then surrenders, claiming noble blood.
Catch Ventza
Gnarly sends you to chase Ventza through the rocks. Follow the marker, listen for loud swearing, then confront him. Intimidation can cut the scene short.
Rewards and return
Finding Ventza snaps you back to the second camp, where Semine and Gnarly already have Gules, Ventza, and Franzi tied up. Semine plans to haul them to the citadel. Gules later appears at
Semine stables and offers Tasks starting with
Canker.
Talk to Semine for 80 Groschen. Don't accept the ride home instantly; ask them to wait while you loot. You can still travel with them afterward.
Loot bodies for the main chest key. That chest can hold about 152 Groschen, Lu Die, several smithing supplies including Toledo steel, pelts to sell, and an Open Bascinet.
Use their ride to Troskowitz Cemetery, then return to
Tachov on your own. Stop in Troskowitz to sell or stash loot.
Report to Radovan to finish the quest and begin
The Hermit. He also rewards you with the Rusted plate chestplate, likely your first.
The Jaunt FAQ
When can I buy Pebbles?
During the Semine portion of the quest, before you leave with Semine and Gnarly, visit the stables first if you still need a horse.
Do I need a horse to finish?
You'll travel a lot on foot with the NPCs; having your own mount afterward makes the ride back and inventory trips easier.
Can I miss Gnarly's Club?
Talk to Gnarly before the practice fight and accept the club; you can sell it later.
What comes after The Jaunt?
The Hermit with Radovan, plus Gules' task line from Semine.
How many bandit camps are in The Jaunt?
Two. Clear the small lookout camp first, then the larger Gules camp where Ventza is held.
