Pharloom Bay Map

Pharloom Bay map location in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Pharloom Bay appears to be a confirmed area within the upcoming Sea of Sorrow expansion. Evidence from unused map data reveals its position southeast of Bilewater, positioned above Verdania when viewing the world map at full zoom.

Location & Visual Design

The region features a vibrant cyan-blue background on the world map, suggesting a coastal or aquatic environment. The area appears relatively compact in size, with a distinctive wavy line pattern visible in the bottom-right corner that likely represents water boundaries.

  • Industrial metallic elements and iron-themed architecture
  • Saltwater hot springs
  • Snails and shells as prominent visual themes

Players may have already glimpsed this aesthetic in the base game: after completing the Wish: Trail's End quest, a metallic chamber with cubic rock formations can be found where Shakra's Master is located.

Development History

During the ACMI Exhibition in Australia, approximately two months before Silksong's release, a Reddit user captured photographs of in-development map sketches showing Pharloom Bay with work still in progress.

The development map reveals that the upper section appears to contain a platforming challenge, possibly for obtaining an unknown item or potentially a new ability. Based on these images, Pharloom Bay seems to be a relatively small area, potentially consisting of just two or three larger interconnected rooms.

Pharloom Bay was originally removed from development in 2022 and was initially planned to occupy Verdania's location on the map. The area was first revealed in the original Hollow Knight: Silksong announcement trailer but ultimately didn't make it into the base game's final release.

Lore Connection

From a narrative perspective, Pharloom Bay likely represents what Bilewater looked like before the Citadel's pollution transformed it. This connection suggests the area will play a significant role in understanding the environmental history of Pharloom.
