The Heirloom is a side quest in the
Kuttenberg region that follows a family of refugees from the razed village of Mezholes.
How to Unlock The Heirloom
To begin this quest, you must have completed the Speak of the Devil main quest (
Speak of the Devil). Travel to the Huntsman's Lodge (marked as an Interesting site west of
Bylany) and speak with Svatava Mikush.
Investigating in Bylany
Svatava is worried about her husband, Mikush, a tailor who has not returned from his work in Bylany.
Before running to Bylany, speak with Svatava's daughter Vendula, and pass a speech check to learn that Mikush was involved in a fight over a dice game.
Head to the Bylany tavern and find Chernik, in a blue coat. He is only able to talk while in the tavern. If you find him walking down the street or sleeping, you must skip time to day, so he becomes available.
To obtain information, you can beat him at dice, pay him, or pass speech/intimidation checks to learn that Mikush left with a man named Drat. The easiest way is to go for the medium difficulty Speech check.
Interrogating Drat
Locate Drat just north of the tavern. You will need to pass several hard persuasion checks. Do not let up. Pressure him repeatedly until he admits that a man named Hanka lured Mikush into a bandit ambush over a family inheritance.
Drat will try to repeatedly lie, make sure to pass all skill checks and exhaust all available dialogue. Some options will reward you with extra reputation.
Saving Mikush
Drat directs you to a crossroads southwest of Bylany.
At the crossroads, head west to find blood on the road. You cannot interact with this for some reason. Henry will just look at it, but won't comment. At this place, get off the main road and follow the tracks southwest into the woods to find Mikush's cap.
Continue southwest for a while, crossing a larger road, until you find a camp with a large white tent. The small camp has two bandits. Kill them immediately.
Mikush is badly wounded on the ground. Before speaking to him, make sure to loot the two present chests for about 150 Groschen and some blacksmithing supplies.
To save Mikush, you must first pass Craftsmanship, Alchemy, and Survival checks:
- Inspect the wound (Craftsmanship)
- Would a Potion Help? (Alchemy)
- Would herbs help? (Survival)
Now go pick up some Feverfew just northwest behind him (10 metres), as it is needed for the next step.
Then proceed to the diagnosis. Select "I know exactly what to do" and proceed with these steps in this exact order:
- I should clean that wound of yours: Use alcohol (Schnapps can be found near the campfire).
- I'll put herbs on that wound: Use Feverfew (patches grow just northwest of the camp). It needs to be fresh, dried doesn't work.
- I'll give you a potion: A Strong Marigold Decoction, Aqua Vitalis, or Painkiller Brew is best. A weak version is available in the tent chest.
- I should bandage it: Bandage his wounds and pray (requires a Scholarship check).
You can then optionally pray for him (gives reputation) or wrap it up.
Hostage Situation
After treating Mikush, he has some bad news for you. You must race back to the Huntsman's Lodge. Hanka and his bandits have arrived and are holding Vendula hostage.
Choose the Negotiate option first.
Then pass the Speech check to stall, followed by Intimidation check. Hanka will scare and let Vendula go. If your stats are low, you can choose to pay him off to ensure the family's safety instead.
Once Vendula is safe, you can kill Hanka or let him leave peacefully. If you learned his history from Drat, you can even attempt to reconcile with him.
Find the Heirloom
If Mikush survived your medical treatment, he will eventually return to the lodge. Speak to Svatava, and she will ask you to retrieve the family inheritance from the ruins of Mesoles.
Head to the center of the burned-down village. Be prepared to fend off wild dogs.
Follow the directions south of Mikush's old house toward the forest edge. Henry will comment on the destruction when crossing the burnt village. Look for a handcart and a shovel near a dig spot.
The Heirloom final treasure location on map:
Retrieve the contents of the chest.
The Heirloom All Endings
When you return to Svatava, you can choose to give her the entire inheritance, keep a portion, or lie and say you found nothing.
Returning the full inheritance provides the best moral outcome and rewards you with 60 Groschen along with Survival and Strength XP.
Mikush will also become available to talk. You can return his hat for extra reputation and he becomes a Skill Teacher, but he only offers one option: Apprentice level Craftsmanship (200 Groschen).
This finishes The Heirloom side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
