Rosa's Book Quest Guide | Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Rosa's Book is a missable task in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 located within the Kuttenberg region.

It can be started only during the main quest Taking French Leave. Completing this task is entirely mandatory if you wish to romance Rosa Ruthard later in the game. It also rewards you with the Tales of Kuttenberg achievement.

How to Unlock the Task

To begin this task, you must first complete the first step of Taking French Leave, which is to deal with Mint Master Vavak. See our Taking French Leave guide for the full Maleshov infiltration walkthrough.

Once inside the manor, Kunzlin Ruthard will send you to his daughter Rosa for information regarding the secret passage to Maleshov. She will provide the intel, but also ask Henry to retrieve a specific book from Maleshov.

To ensure the quest starts properly and you gain maximum reputation right at the start, make sure to navigate the conversation using these specific dialogue options:

1. Dialogue choice does not matter
2. "A clever solution"
3. Dialogue choice does not matter
4. "Come with me!"
5. "You wouldn't be a burden"
6. "I'm listening"
7. You can optionally try to pass the Scholarship check here asking about the book
8. "I'll bring the book, fear not!"

Accepting the task will grant you two unique inventory items: the Map of Maleshov Tower and the Maleshov Fort Map.

Rosa's Book Location

Continue with Taking French Leave until you reach the tower, which is part of Maleshov fortress. For the infiltration route, follow our Taking French Leave guide.

Rosa's book is called A Book of Humourous Anecdotes and it is located one floor below where Hans Capon and Brabant are imprisoned. The room is guarded by Lady Ofka.

Once you have the book, continue with Taking French Leave until you leave the castle.

Bring the Book to Rosa

Before speaking to Rosa, make sure to read the book! You will find out that it is actually a medieval book of jokes and is quite funny. Not reading it leads to lost reputation which can prevent romancing her!

Travel back to Kuttenberg and visit Rosa at the Ruthard Manor. Explain that you have the book and tell her that you have read it (select option "I perused it").

She will then follow up with three skill checks. Passing any is good, so choose the easiest to gain some free reputation. Rosa will then confess that she is actually the author of the book.

Write the Book with Rosa

The dialogue will then shift into finishing writing the book with Rosa. She will propose Henry write something. Respond "I would like that", then follow up with "That sounds great."

You will then move to her chambers. This section is pretty open: Henry will dictate a story to her, and the specific title of the finished book will completely change based on the exact path of dialogue options you select.

What you choose does not matter for the story or Rosa's romance; you just have to help her create it, but the contents are up to you. However, choosing "Woman", "Make her courageous" and "She is standing right in front of me" gives more reputation.

These are all available options:

• About the clever priest: Choose "A man" followed by "A priest" and then any subsequent options.
• About the miser who rose from the dead: Choose "A man" then "A rich man" and then "Differences between rich and poor".
• About the Vengeful Seamstress: Three paths. "A man" → "A rich man" → "Paint them like fools!" → "Greed". Or the same through "Foolishness". Or "A woman" → "She should be clever" → any option → "Bad intent".
• The Miserly Burgher: "A man" → "A rich man" → "Paint them like fools!" → "Self-centredness".
• About the one-legged heron: "A man" → "An ordinary person" → "Do-gooder" → "Flippancy / Frivolity".
• The Black-eyed Girl: "A man" → "An ordinary person" → "Villain" → any option → "Bad intent".
• The Nightingale Maiden: "A man" → "An ordinary person" → "Villain" → any option → "Love".
• About an Eloquent Lady and a Bad Dancer: "A woman" → "Pretty" → "Happily". Or "A woman" → "She should be clever" → any option → "Good intent".
• A widower who remarried: "A woman" → "Make her courageous" → either "Theresa from the mill in Rattay" or "She's standing before me!" → any option.

You can then read the new story from the book, including the not very complimenting sketch Rosa drew of you.

Quest Conclusion and Rewards

After the story finishes playing out, speak with Rosa for the final time in this quest and make sure to appreciate that there is a moral point of the story. It is best to also lie and tell her that the sketch is nice.

Make sure to explicitly mention that you would like to get to know her better in this last dialogue choice:

This officially secures the romance option for later in your playthrough. The task will formally conclude.

Rosa Ruthard is now also unlocked as a skill teacher. She can sell you Journeyman Scholarship XP for 500 Groschen or Apprentice Marksmanship XP for 200 Groschen.
