All Benches Checklist Overview
The checklist is located below this introductory text.
This is the interactive checklist for all Benches in Hollow Knight. Track your completion progress using this auto-save checklist.
This All Benches Hollow Knight checklist is in optimal progression order - locations are ordered to be as convenient as possible. Every bench features a screenshot of its location, plus useful tips about nearby points of interests.
The benches don't have official names in the game, we named them by a nearby landmark.
Benches - Key Information:
Benches serve as checkpoints through the world of Hollow Knight. They perform the same function as Benches in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and to an extent, as Bonfires and Sites of Grace from Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
There are far fewer benches in Hollow Knight than in Silksong, and they are farther away, making the run-backs longer and more difficult. Benches in Hollow Knight are visually different in almost every location and sometimes don't resemble a Bench at all (for example the Leg Eater Bench is a broken bug shell).
Some Benches need to be unlocked for a Geo fee. These can be identified by spotting a toll machine asking for Geo. Compared to Silksong where many benches are locked behind a Rosary price, only four benches in Hollow Knight are locked. One in Greenpath costs 50 Geo, other three cost 150 Geo.
Benches can also be visited by NPCs, mainly Quirrel, Bretta and Tiso. The Crystal Guardian Bench is also occupied by the Boss and is only activated after you defeat him.
If you buy a Bench Pin from Iselda for 100 Geo, all discovered Benches will be marked on your map.
All Benches functions:
- when you die, you will respawn at your latest used Bench
- sitting at the Bench will essentially reset the rooms. Non-boss enemies will respawn, Soul Totems will gain Soul again.
- This does not apply to the room you are currently using a Bench in
- Flying enemies, such as the Vengefly, respawn after exiting a room, even without sitting at a Bench
- you can manage your Charms at any Bench
- sitting at a Bench will fill out your Map with recently explored areas, provided you have purchased a Quill from Iselda and have that location's map
- sitting at a Bench will completely refill your HP, including all Lifeblood Masks given by Lifeblood Charms. It however cancels all Lifeblood Masks obtained from Lifeblood Cocoons
- if you have Salubra's Blessing, sold by Salubra for 800 Geo after having at least 40 Charms, sitting at a Bench will also refill your Soul
Benches DO NOT allow the option of fast travel, therefore their main used serves simply as a checkpoint. However every Stag Station has a Bench close by, with the exception of the Distant Village Stag Station in Deepnest.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many benches are in Hollow Knight?
This checklist tracks 52 benches across every major area of Hallownest, including Godhome DLC benches and the Distant Village trap bench. Use the tables grouped by area to visit them in a sensible route.
What do benches do in Hollow Knight?
Benches are checkpoints: you respawn at your latest used bench after death, refill HP (and Soul with Salubra's Blessing), manage Charms, and reset non-boss rooms. Unlike Silksong benches, Hollow Knight benches do not offer fast travel.
Which benches cost Geo to unlock?
Only four benches require a Geo toll: one in Greenpath costs 50 Geo, and three others cost 150 Geo each. Look for a toll machine near the bench.
How do I use this benches checklist?
Check off each bench as you sit at it. Progress saves automatically in your browser with no account. Section counters show completion per area table, and the stats at the top show your overall total.
Which other checklists pair with benches?
Benches mark your route through Hallownest. Pair this list with the All Bosses, All Grubs, and other checklists on the Hollow Knight hub when planning a full completion run.
