The
Attila task is a brief activity located in
Maleshov within the
Kuttenberg region. This activity only becomes available after you have successfully finished the main quest
Taking French Leave.
How to Start the Attila Quest
This quest is available only after completing Taking French Leave.
To kick off Attila, you can visit the Maleshov innkeeper (quest tipster), located at the very south of the map. Speak with Innkeeper Slatchalek to receive a quest tip that points you toward Groom Hashtal.
Alternatively, you can head directly to Hashtal's farm and stables nearby to speak with him.
Locating the Thieves' Camp
Once you accept the quest, Hashtal explains that a gang of thieves broke into his stables and made a massive racket while stealing his prized horse, Attila. Hashtal caught them in the act but needs your help getting the animal back.
After completing the dialogue, a search area will appear in the woods to the northwest.
Call your horse and travel into the forest. The bandits have set up their camp along the stream at the very western edge of the designated search radius.
Retrieving Attila
When you locate the camp, you will find the thieves hanging around the river with the stolen horse. Their camp looks like this:
Approach 1: Just Steal the Horse
For players looking to complete this quest as quickly as possible, you do not actually need to fight any of the bandits. You can simply sprint directly into the camp, mount Attila, and ride away before the thieves can properly react.
However, you need high Horsemanship for this, or Attila will get scared and throw you off directly into the bandits.
Attila is kept on the eastern side of the camp, protected by two bandits.
Approach 2: Defeat the Bandits
If you prefer a combat approach, you can eliminate the bandits before securing the horse, either via stealth or open fight.
There is no need to be scared of the bandits: only five men are in the camp (and two patrols) and all are very weak.
None of the bandits have great loot and there is only about 150 Groschen worth of trinkets in the camp chest.
Mount Attila and guide him out of the woods. Ride the horse all the way back to the Maleshov stud farm and guide him safely back into his designated pen.
Can you Own Attila as your Horse?
Attila is the best-stated horse in the game and the only horse that beats Pebbles with the hidden perk (Good Old Pebbles).
However, you cannot tame Attila for yourself or purchase the horse from the stables later in the game, so your only official choice is to return him.
Attila is not a timed quest: you can keep the horse for as long as you want and never finish the task.
Attila's stats:
Rewards and Unlocks
Once Attila is brought back to the stud farm (keep him in the middle clearing), speak with Groom Hashtal to conclude the task. He will reward you with 250 Groschen and a solid boost to your local reputation.
More importantly for completionists, finishing this quest successfully unlocks Groom Hashtal as a skill teacher. You can return to him at any point after this quest to receive advanced training for both the Horsemanship and Craftsmanship skill lines.
This finishes the Attila task in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
